Personalizing Information With InfoViewer Profiles
InfoViewer enables you to personalize information by creating "Profiles." Profiles enable you to track information related to your specific interests, for example, information about people, companies, events and more. Profiles are created using Boolean search expressions and support Boolean "AND," "OR" and "NOT" operators. Profiles can be based on the full text of articles and captions as well as meta-data including date, byline, source, industry, ticker and location. New Profiles and changes to existing Profiles take effect instantly.
Viewing Information
InfoViewer enables you to customize the display of information. Profiles are displayed either as a list or in a drop-down menu. Headlines can be displayed with your choice of date, time source, and story ID. Clicking on a headline displays the full story (or media asset or photograph). Full stories can be displayed either in a single or multiple pop-up (browser) windows or in a frame below the headline list. An alternate view allows the InfoViewer to display headlines as a scrolling ticker. Only information delivered while you have the InfoViewer open, and optionally the previous six hours, appears in your headline list. You can view headlines created at other times by using search features.
Searching the Archive
InfoViewer provides you with multiple ways to quickly search for information.
Quick Search: Quick search allows you to search the full text and headlines of information, from all sources, delivered during the previous 24 hours. Simply enter your search string in the field at the top of the InfoViewer and click the "Search" button.
Advanced Search: Advanced Search enables you to search for information by source and time period using the full text of articles, headlines and captions as well as meta-data including, industry, byline, company, stock ticker, location and story ID. You can also save these searches as Profiles.
In addition, Advanced Search enables you to search the results of existing Profiles using additional key words and by timer period. Results from Profile searches can pre-date the creation of the profile.
14-Day Archive: Selecting the 14-Day Archive from the pull-down menu searches for all information, created in the previous 14 days, meeting the Profile's criteria. Results from a 14-Day Archive Search can pre-date the creation of the profile.
E-mail and Desktop Alerts
InfoViewer can forward the results of a Profile to any e-mail address including to e-mail capable PDAs and wireless devices. You can select notification in real time, once per hour or four times per day. In addition, you can set the InfoViewer to alert you at your desktop with a flashing icon, a pop-up window or an audible alert whenever a story meeting specific criteria is delivered to one of your Profiles.
Exporting Information to E-mail and Other Applications
The InfoExport feature allows you to batch export articles, images and media assets for use in applications or for delivery to one or multiple e-mails addresses. Right click on any headline to send the information to InfoExport then click on the InfoExport icon to select delivery options.
InfoViewer Applications
InfoViewer is available in three versions
An ActiveX control, an HTML-only version and a Win 32 application. The HTML-only version of InfoViewer does not cache headlines and does not support the InfoExport or scrolling ticker features. The ActiveX control version of InfoViewer only displays the full articles (or photographs or media assets) in multiple pup-up windows and does not support the scrolling ticker feature.
