InfoDesk revolutionary Information and Knowledge Management (IKM)
Infrastructure combines high capacity, distributed, network resident services for input, broadcast, routing, caching, entitlement and management of Information and Media along with a comprehensive range of powerful and easy-to-use end-user tools that enable and simplify the use of Information in a wide range of knowledge-intensive applications spanning multiple platforms and devices. InfoDesk's IKM infrastructure is compatible with any IP network including the public Internet, satellite networks and private networks.
InfoDesk's IKM infrastructure can be easily "plugged in" to existing applications or used to power and reduce development time and cost for new applications. It enables organizations to reduce costs and eliminate information overload while enhancing reliability, performance, usability and the ROI of mission critical knowledge applications. It offers an ideal IKM infrastructure solution for organizations in information intensive business sectors such as financial services, insurance, media, communications, legal, consulting security and intelligence as well as information intensive functions in any organization including executive and senior management, R&D, competitive intelligence, marketing, legal, risk management and strategic planning.
InfoSource
InfoSource inputs information and media into the InfoDesk solution. It is a high capacity real-time input service that uses modular plug-ins or "Blades" for each unique data type and format input into the system. It inputs a wide range of disparate data types including XML, HTML, Text, market ticks, and a wide range of binary file types. It outputs IDSK information packets that contain meta-data and routing information in the packet header that enable intelligent management throughout InfoDesk's architecture. Adding and modifying Blades to accommodate new or changed data types requires no system downtime.
InfoSwitch
InfoSwitch, the core service within InfoDesk's IKM infrastructure, is a distributed real-time information switching fabric that broadcasts, and manages the intelligent routing and caching of, information packets throughout the InfoDesk architecture. InfoSwitch provides point-to-point broadcast services that reduce latency and bandwidth requirements by selectively broadcasting only information packets that have been requested by at least one user and by broadcasting only via the shortest available path. Intelligent Hierarchical CachingTM (IHC) technology ensures that a packet is never sent across a path, or to the same location, more than once and reduces latency by caching packets at the edge of the network close to users.
Global Entitlement & Management ServiceTM (GEMS)
Management of activity and entitlements throughout InfoDesk's IKM infrastructure is accomplished via the Global Entitlement and Management ServiceTM GEMS. GEMS is a distributed, management service that acts as the central nervous system for all the services and applications in the InfoDesk architecture. GEMS provides a superset of capabilities for and is built on top of LDAP directory services. It stores all user information including User IDs, Information entitlements and user filtering preferences, and controls user authentication. GEMS automatically replicates selected information strategically throughout the infrastructure to back up critical data and reduce network response times.
InfoProfiler
InfoProfiler, a real-time information filtering technology that enables users to easily selectively filter and personalize ("Profile") the information they are entitled to. InfoProfiler enables hierarchical and batch management of Profiles by authorized users For example a Profile can be established for an entire organization, a division, a department, as task group or an individual. In addition, Profiles can be duplicated, modified and deleted either individually or in batches. This type of management enables an organization's knowledge management and information professionals to add significant value. Profiles can be based on the full text of Information or based on meta-data associated with Information such as publication, byline, industry code, time, date and location.
InfoAdministrator
Information providers entitle users organizations to Information and create and manage Information products using InfoAdministrator. Using InfoAdministrator, an Information provider and instantly assign all Information that contains like meta-data to a "Channel". For example all Information that includes a specific industry code could be included in an industry-specific Channel or all information that includes a company name or stock ticker could be included in a company-specific Channel. Channels can also be created based on a combination of such criteria. An individual channel can be marketed to users, or it can be combined with additional Channels to form a "Package." In conjunction with InfoProfiler, InfoAdministrator provides a seamless hierarchical chain of control from the Information creator to the individual end-user.
