Specifically, many firms are using the software tool within their own companies in order to increase engagement and collaboration among their employees. Some successful results have been seen thus far from the consulting industry’s foray into this new technology.
How Consulting Firms use Gamification
One of the ways Deloitte implements gamification is by using it to hire new talent. Prospective apprentices interact with a gamification app, trying to use clever ways to get through a virtual forest. The strategies of the students provide insights into their intellect and creativity that a resume might have missed. Deloitte uses the outcomes of this game as one of the criteria in their hiring decision processes for the apprentices.
NTT Data wanted to develop more leaders within their employee pool, so they initiated a leadership gamification tool. Various leadership scenarios were able to be viewed in this portal, and employees were able to obtain instant feedback, as well as gain recognition for their activities within the tool.
Global consulting firm, Bluewolf, used gamification to encourage employees to use social media more frequently. The program, called “Going Social,” drove more social media interaction from internal thought leaders and subject matter experts. This activity, in turn, made inbound social media traffic vastly increase.

This gaming effect achieves an overall engagement focus for the platform.

Various enterprise vendors of gamification solutions have emerged in recent years. Some of the vendors have even worked with consulting firms, helping them to engage their employees in collaborative efforts. Some key gamification vendors include:
Badgeville - This company offers various gamification products and solutions that aid in customer engagement, employee collaboration or sales persons to increase performance.
Bunchball - This gamification vendor provides solutions that allow customers, employees, and partners to boost collaboration. Their core product is called Nitro.
GamEffective - Such uses as employee training, customer service education and sales enhancement are noted on this vendor’s website. Gartner actually listed this company as their 2016 Cool Vendor in Human Capital Management.
Infosys – Not only does this firm consult with companies regarding their gamification needs, but they also offer their own software platform, the Enterprise Gamification Platform – IEGP.
Gamification tools having been increasingly used by consulting firms as well as by their clients. With advancing technologies, numerous uses for gamification may be found.
